PRESS RELEASE

CSR and Taiyo Yuden announce Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth module partnership targeting small consumer devices

Cambridge, UK - 19 March 2009 - CSR (LSE: CSR) today announced that it is working with Taiyo Yuden to produce a range of connectivity modules specifically targeted at small devices. Taiyo Yuden's unique EOMIN™ module technology combines with CSR's breakthrough connectivity product CSR9000 which enables the industry's smallest Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS modules.

As part of this close relationship CSR is working with Taiyo Yuden on its pioneering Connectivity Centre product, CSR9000. Launched at Mobile World Congress 2009, CSR9000 is the world's smallest Bluetooth and Wi-Fi solution and supports a long list of connectivity technologies including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n), GPS, Bluetooth low energy and FM receive and transmit. CSR9000 enables the world's smallest connectivity modules and offers best-in-class wireless performance and coexistence.

CSR chose to work with Taiyo Yuden for its manufacturing ability and its ability to produce highly space efficient modules. Its EOMIN™ technology results in a module that is tough and shock resistant, highly reliable and features a significantly lower profile than competing, non-CSR-based solutions. It also results in a much lower thermal resistance, less than 20% of the resistance of Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramic (LTCC).

"With portable consumer devices getting smaller all the time, the PCB footprint of the module is becoming increasingly important," said Matthew Philips, Senior Vice President, Handset Business Unit, CSR. "Taiyo Yuden's EOMIN™ process technology results in significantly smaller modules; this means that more and more portable devices will start to take advantage of the multiple wireless technologies offered by CSR."

"CSR is the world leader in wireless technologies, and the recently launched CSR9000 combines more functionality in a smaller area than anything else on the market," said Mitsuo Takagi, General Manager, Integrated Module Business Unit, Taiyo Yuden. "A key concern for consumers is the size of their portable devices, nobody wants to carry around a huge phone or camera. Our EOMIN™ technology allows multiple wireless functionality to be embedded onto the smallest possible module keeping the overall size of the device to a minimum."

CSR9000 is available immediately. Taiyo Yuden's modules will be available from Q3 2009.
